Don't Forget the Returning Shows

Amidst all the hoopla about the new network TV series (anyone see any shows they are truly excited about?), nights like tonight drive me nuts. I have two DVRs, capable of recording four shows. In the height of sports season, that isn't enough.

At 9:00 P.M. tonight, if I had my druthers, I'd be watching or recording: The Jets-Dolphins NFL game; The Amazing Race; Boardwalk Empire; Dexter; Iron Chef America; the Yankees-Red Sox baseball game; and maybe Hoarding on TLC. Alas, I've misplaced my druthers, so since the shelf life of sports is short, I'll probably watch the Jets game and alternate with the Yankees game on the same DVR, and record the two shows that aren't repeating anytime soon.

While I have a hard time finding current theatrical movies that I want to see, I could spend a workday tomorrow watching the other shows I want to see tonight, including the season's premieres of 60 Minutes, Undercover Boss, The Simpsons (featuring the cast of Glee and Flight of the Conchords), Bored To Death, and the debut of Sister Wives, a reality show on TLC about a polygamist family. Good thing I'm not a fan of Mad Men, Rubicon, Eastbound & Down, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Brothers & Sisters, The Closer, and other series that have passionate fans: I'd never leave Imponderables Central.
