For the first time ever, I found a show to watch on Lifetime, and it's the only new sitcom besides the American version of The Office that I like enough to watch regularly. Featuring an ensemble steeped in improvisational comedy, Lovespring International features a dream cast, including Jane Lynch, so wonderful in The 40-Year Old Virgin and the Christopher Guest comedies. You'll recognize most of their faces, and probably know none of their names.
I was never a fan of Will & Grace, so I worried about Lovespring's guest appearances by Eric McCormack (the executive producer of the show) and Sean Hayes so early in the run of the show. Both were superb.
Lovespring is as dry as the Office but the plots are a little wackier, a la Curb Your Enthusiasm. If not quite up to the standards of those two shows, Lovespring is more than worth a look. Mondays at 11, and rerun on Saturday at 12:30 P.M. (this Saturday will be a rerun of the Sean Hayes show, I assume).
