A Stunning Slide Show

Alvaro, a denizen of the French Quarter, had the presence of mind to shoot photographs of his city, documenting the first five days of Hurricane Katrina. Most surprising is how well the city looked at the end of Day 2.

I've been to New Orleans many times, often ostensibly for meetings, usually primarily to eat. I know virtually all the sites of this slideshow -- seeing the before and after photos is heartbreaking but compelling.
