Worst Use of English by a Human Being on Television
This prestigious award goes to Iyanla Vanzant, who on the March 10 episode of Starting Over actually said:
"How can we re-language that?"
Never one to use a simple two-syllable word when an awkward, pretentious turn of phrase will do, Iyanla consistently maims the English language, while often demonstrating horrendous listening skills.
Too bad. Starting Over is the most interesting soap opera-reality show hybrid yet. The other life coach, Rhonda Britten, has gotten her act together in Starting Over's second season, and Dr. Stan Katz has been a good addition.
Most importantly, the "cast" of women in the house have been consistently interesting and sympathetic this season. Soap opera writers could learn more than a little about the arcs of character development from the brainchild of Bunim-Murray.
